24 More Shibir Activists Held From CU Campus
CHITTAGONG, Feb 13 (BSS): Hathazari police of the district during a midnight raid arrested 24 more activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir (ICS) from ICS-controlled messes adjacent to the Chittagong University (CU) campus.
Police said the ICS activists were arrested on charges of planning to create violence on the campus.
A total of 45 Jihadi books and some iron rods and wooden sticks were also seized from the possession of ICS activists during a series of raid.
Hathazari circle Assistant Police Superintendent Babul Akhter told the news agency that they had raided at least 10 to 15 ICS run-lodging houses adjacent to CU Gate No: 2 from 1:00 am to 4:00 am Saturday and detained the ICS men along with Jihadi books and lethal weapons.
He said they had sent the arrested ICS activists to be produced before the court with the allegation that they were out to hatch a plot to create violence on the campus. More allegations would be brought against them after investigation, he said.
